Now that Thanksgiving has past we can all decorate our houses for Christmas without being called tacky. This can be a Woot Woot moment or a Oh No how should I decorate this year moment. The last one is me I love Christmas but I get so stressed out trying to decorate for it. Trying to skip the stress I started to plan a few week before I was going to put up my decoration on what I wanted. I went looking for something to inspire my tree I lucked out and found two things that where more than enough inspiration for me. The worlds cutest name tags and this crazy pink glittery garland.(Tip: look around the story find one thing you love and go from there with your decoration.) Those two beloved items lead me to the color theme of Pink, Silver, and Black.Sure these are not traditional Christmas colors but I think you need to mix it up or your just going to have a mundane tree.
You think the hardest part is finding the ornaments in the colors you want but the in truth finding a tree skirt is the hardest part.I looked everywhere and could not find anything. This lead me to the next part of my journey to have a preppy Christmas with my own personal flare. This next step is none other than the sewing part. My Dad told me that taking a Home Ec class was pointless saying I would never need anything I learned in there. Oh how he was wrong.(Sewing is a very very useful skill to know.)I had a vision of what I wanted so I went out and bought what I needed ; a dark pink and a light pink feather boa plus pink and white polka dot fabric. All you have to do is cut the fabric out to fit around your tree like you want it to. Then, just use your sewing machine to fix the edges. You could sew the boas onto the fabric if you wanted to but I just laid them the way I wanted them. It is really that easy. Ribbon is a most have at anytime of the year but at Christmas it is a crime not to have any.You can do loads of stuff with ribbon it looks fabulous on presents and as a tree topper. Here are some pictures of the finished product.
